The Sphynx

The Sphynx is a breed all on its own, and it can be said also that it is one of the most unusual cat, not only because of its looks and touch but also because of its rarity.  There are not more that 600 Sphynx in the whole world.
Not a lot of people have seen touched or heard of them, although they have been around for many years, dating back to at least the eighteenth century, although they were not called Sphynx cats in those days.  Most of the Sphynx in Europe and America today descend from a black and white house cat in Canada called Elizabeth, it is known that she gave birth to two naked kittens in 1962.  From there a dr. Herandez started a breeding programme in Holland, and luckily for us sphynx breeders now, otherwise this wonderful cat could have BEEN extinct again.  We have a lot to be grateful to him for.
The European Standard describes the Sphynx as part child, monkey, dog, cat, and I would add even human, because of their intelligence, and loving nature.  THE Sphynx haS won over peoples affection by cuddling up to them while constantly purring, they seek warmth from each other and from humans, THEY ARE VERY WARM TO THE TOUCH ALTHOUGH THEY VERY REARLY FEEL THE COLD AND CAN LIVE VERY HAPPILY IN A NORMAL HOME ENVIRONMENT Their affectionate nature is addictive.  An all-important feature of the Sphynx is that they should be not to fat, but should look like they have just eaten a good meal (that's not hard for any Sphynx). I hope this has given you a little guide to the much-loved Sphynx.
